THE HEART IN CONFLICT

New Moon, the second book of the Twilight Saga, is the perfect example of the protagonist's heart in conflict. When Edward leaves Bella for good, she is severely depressed for months and months. Eventually, when she figures that he is never coming back, she starts spending more time with Jacob. They quickly become best friends, but Jacob wants to be more than just friends. Bella's heart is torn in two; she wants to like Jacob, but her heart still belongs and longs for Edward. When Bella notices Alice's (Edward's "sister") car parked outside her house, she thoughtlessly goes running back to save Edward. The author, Stephenie Meyer, depicts Bella's emotions so well that you can truthfully feel the same feelings rushing through your own body. It is quite incredible.

STORY vs. ESSAY

A movie that clearly SHOWS a truth about life was The Notebook. The truth it revealed was that everyone ages, and that true love can last forever. The fact that everyone ages is shown throughout the movie. An old man is reading out of a notebook to an older woman. She clearly thinks this is just a story, but the truth is that the story he is reading to her is the story of their earlier years. True love is shown in the movie due to Noah's taking care of an aging Allie shows his love and devotion. Also, throughout the story of their young lives together, you can feel how much he loves her.

Things Carried

Things I carry with me every day:
1. Cell Phone
2. Keys
3. Credit Card
4. Driver's License
5. Picture of my boyfriend

I think that most of my object are normal things that most people use. I know that many people cannot leave their house without their cell phone. To lock up your house and start your car, you need your keys. To be able to drive a car, you need your license. However, I do carry two things that I believe are unique to me. I have a picture of my boyfriend in my wallet. I keep it there just for good luck and to know he's always around when I miss him. Also, I have a case on my cell phone. Inside that case, I keep a small heart which my boyfriend folded for me out of a 'Now and Later' candy wrapper. When I went to get my battery replaced, the lady took off my cover, found the wrapper heart in there and tried to throw it out. I freaked out and she put it back in there, but this leads me to believe that others might think it is a silly thing of me keep. However, it reminds me of his sweet and caring nature and also reminds me that he's always there with me.
